about the artist
Brooklyn artist Karen Revis combines and layers colors in her paintings and prints in order to accentuate the sensual surfaces of the paper she makes by hand. Her quiet, tactile pieces use transparent veils of color that glimmer with hidden washes, expressing a sense of harmony and a hint of the unknowable.
Revis received her art training at the Corcoran School of Fine Arts in Washington, DC and the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Her work is in numerous public and private collections, including Alliance Capital Management (NY), the Venetian Macau Hotel (Macau), The Metropolitan Club (Boston) and Winston & Strawn (SF).
